Mahmud Ghafir

Born and raised in Damascus, Syria, graduated from the Abu Nur seminary with a B.A in Islamic Studies. He is also a Hafiz of the Qur’an with Ijaza in the the recitation of Hafs. For many years he taught Arabic at both Abu Nur and Ma‘had al-Fath al-Islami, where he built a reputation as one of the most well-liked and respected teachers. During his time at Abu Nur, he helped design, develop, and implement the Arabic language program for non-native speakers. In addition, he is a trained munshid who is regularly called on by Scholars (previously in Damascus, and presently in Istanbul) to sing at various gatherings of remembrance. He currently teaches Arabic at Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey

Abd al-Salam Ghafir

Is a graduate in Islamic Studies from the Abu Nur seminary, Damascus, Syria. After graduating, he spent many years as a senior teacher of Arabic language to non-native speakers at Abu Nur. In addition to Arabic language, he teaches Arabic poetry and its various poetic metres, is an accomplished duff player, and recently provided his voice for an audio recording of a commentary on the Qur’an. He also has Ijaza in Qur’an in the recitation of Hafs. He currently teaches Arabic in various Institutes in Istanbul, Turkey

Yasser Qureshy

Shaykh Yasser studied in traditional Islamic seminaries in Syria and Turkey, following a long established orthodox Islamic curriculum. He graduated first in his Arabic and Islamic Studies program in Damascus, Syria and as well as being formally trained in a number of Islamic sciences during his seminary studies, has further augmented his Islamic education with more focused instruction with scholars.

Faiz Qureshy

Faiz Qureshy studied Arabic in Syria, he then went on to study in the Dar al-Mustafa seminary, Yemen. He has taught for educational initiatives in the UK whilst working as a project worker with mentally ill BAME service-users in London. In 2009 he helped establish the Ribat Institute and additionally he served as a chaplain to Broadmoor Hospital.
